About

My name is Amy Jankowitsch and I currently reside in Quakertown, Pennsylvania. I grew up watching my mother who was elementary educator in Council Rock School District and knew that this was the career path for me as well. After seeing the "behind the scenes" action of what it takes to be an educator I wanted to know more. I continued my education at West Chester University of Pennsylvania where I obtained my Bachelor's Degree in Early Grades Education grades PreK-4. I could not have asked for a better education. The mentors that surrounded me as well as the great opportunities for experience in an authentic setting has prepared me for what lies ahead. I am so very excited to continue to teach and be taught by students for years to come.
West Chester University Outstanding Senior in Education Award
"While at WCU one of the most significant lessons I learned about becoming an educator is recognizing the beauty in diversity among our students in regards to different cultures and experiences. WCU taught me that these differences among us foster growth and acceptance in the classroom community and beyond."
What I like to do in my free time..
Travel
In my free time I love to travel. Whether it is a place in Pennsylvania I have never seen or if it is halfway across the world, I am intrigued. I have had the opportunity to visit Ireland, France, Italy, and Monaco thus far and have taken from those experiences knowledge and lessons that I can incorporate into the classroom. Seeing different ways of living and being somewhere where I do not speak the native language has opened my eyes to themes that some of our students face everyday. I try to bring this understanding into the classroom to teach our students that there is a vast amount of cultures and ways of living in this world different from our own. Being empathetic and open to new perspectives are common themes that I wish to weave into my classroom community and beyond.
In the Spring of 2017, I was awarded the Outstanding Senior in Education Award and was asked, “While at WCU one of the most significant lessons I learned about becoming an educator is…..”

Technology
I have always been interested in technology. I consider myself to be tech savvy and fluent in common applications used today. I enjoy exploring all of the information that there is out there whether it be about history, nature, or more. One of my biggest passions is design. I have always been pleased making aesthetically appealing presentations in the form of PowerPoint, websites, and or online posters from Piktochart. I try my best to be up to date on any new technologies out there. The wheels are always turning in my head on how I can incorporate technology into my classroom. I take the time to research what is out there whether it be an interactive way to review content or a video that supports what is being learned. Taking the extra time to incorporate this technology in the class to enhance lessons makes me a 21st century educator!
